Nyanza Genocide Memorial

This stands in memory of the lives lost to the 1994 Rwanda Genocide perpetrated against over 2000 Tutsis who arrived at the ETO, a school on the outskirts of the city to seek refuge. The Rwandan militias came in later on and marched the refugees to the spot where they were all executed. The museum documents the massacre and emphasizes the desertion of the International Community.

The Garden of Memory is across the road from Nyanza Memorial Site. It is a quite space set in nature offering an opportunity to reflect and remember those whose lives were lost.
